The 18th edition of the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival (12-19 July) marks the resumption of the showbiz in Italy this year. The 2020 edition has in fact a strong focus on safety and major issues with the aim of transmitting to the world the image of a peaceful Italian summer, of a “safe Campania Region ‘, under the banner of optimism and the relaunch for all sectors of art and tourism. Promoted with the support of MIBACT-Dg Cinema and the Campania Region, with the sponsorship of the Italian Red Cross, the event will be inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri. The Global festival was founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, in association with the Ischia International Art Academy chaired by Riccardo Monti. The great world cinema in Ischia therefore returns with previews rigorously in theaters and significant presences that will allow us not to interrupt the dialogue with the world of the film industry of a loved event in the USA and beyond: Trudie Styler, former honorary president of the festival, rè has been designated “Ischia Global Ambassador” with Sting; The Ischia Art Award goes to cinematographer Ben Davis, actress Camille Griffin and their son, the extraordinary young actor Roman Griffin Davis (JoJo Rabbit). European art Award to the German actor Moritz Bleibtreu.
For Italian cinema, the twins D’Innocenzo and the producers of the year Pepito will be awarded for the film of the year “Favolacce”. The Carlo Vanzina Prince of Comedy award goes to Paolo Ruffini. The Legend Award is attributed to Sandra Milo who will be the protagonist of a tribute to Federico Fellini on the centenary of his birth together with Andrea Griminelli and Leopoldo Mastelloni. Numerous appearances for significant awards during the week: Giorgio Pasotti, Federico Ielapi, Carlo Buccirosso, Elisa Amoruso, Alberto Testone, Mirko Found, Riccardo Mandolini and Antonio Gerardi (Ischia Art Award), Pappi Corsicato (Ischia Fiction Award), Francesco Di Leva, Madalina Ghenea, Massimo Boldi, Piero Chiambretti, Massimo Boldi, Pierfrancesco Pingitore (King of comedy), Nicolas Vaporidis, Giulia Salemi, Kaspar Capparoni, Jane Alexander, Elisa Amoruso, Nando Mormone, Matranga and Munafò, Mariano Bruno, Maurizio Mattioli ( Art Award for Lifetime Achievement), Peppe Iodice, Simone Di Pasquale, Emanuela Ambrosino and Tonia Cartolano (Ischia People Award), Andrea Iervolino’s Tatatu will assign a prize to the best short film. Clemente Russo was awarded the Ischia Social Award. Godmother of the festival is Fiorenza D’Antonio.
Music is more than ever this year with the delivery to Zucchero of the recognition “The keys of Ischia” (together with the producer Marina Cicogna) and the tribute to Ennio Morricone, a red thread that will tie together various moments of the festival and will propose in the during the awards ceremony the precious performances of Andrea Griminelli and Sumi Jo. At the start with Jacopo Mastrangelo and with Andrea Sannino. Among the protagonists of the evenings also Lo Stato Sociale, Franco Ricciardi, Ivan Granatino, Clementino, Tony Esposito, Paolo Vallesi, Paolo Belli Band, Agostino Penna.
The cinema at the Global festival then finally returns to theaters, in fact the historic Excelsior of Ischia Porto and Delle Vittorie of Forio reopen for the occasion with over 70 titles including previews, special screenings and feature films in review with the best works of the world season. Admission will be free and safe.
It is an authentic event that combines cinema and music with the screening of “Fandango At The Wall” by Varda Bar-Kar, produced by Doug Davis, Carlos Santana and Quincy Jones. Among the absolute previews: “Rise” by Maritte Lee Go, “The Cinema does not stop” by Marco Serafini, “In the women’s bathroom” by Marco Castaldi, “Nightmare Symphony” by Domiziano Cristopharo. In European Preview “Love is not Love” by Stephen Keep Mills and “Songs of Solomon” by Arman Nshanian. Among the Italian premieres “No Fathers in Kahsmir” by Ashvin Kumar (Oscar nominated), “And We Go Green” by Fisher Stevens and Malcolm Venville – produced by Leonardo Di Caprio; “The King of Staten Island” by Judd Apatow, “Anna” by Luc Besson, “The Gentlemen” by Guy Richtie. The program of special screenings is rich with “Dogthooth” (2009) by Yorgos Lanthimos, a closing film, unpublished in Italy, which will be released in theaters in August and important titles that it was possible to see this year only on the platform, there will be reviews for children dedicated to documentaries.
“Cinema, Theater, Music, Dance and …: restarting safely” is the theme of the forums to which also Hon. Luigi Gallo, President of the Chamber Culture Commission, Hon. Nicola Acunzo, Matteo Camporeale, will speak with Deputy Minister Sileri , vice president of CRI, Pepito Produzioni (Giuseppe Sacca), Lucky Red (Andrea Occhipinti), Kavac Film (Simone Gattoni), Tunnel (Nando Mormone), Delta 2 Media (Ruggero De Virgilis, Daniele Fioretti, Daniele Muscolo, Marco Perotti), Fandango Produzioni (Gianluca Pignataro), Smile Production (Giuseppe Pedersoli), Danilo Iervolino (Pegaso) and the artists present. The fiftieth anniversary of Bud Spencer’s cult film “Lo Chiamavano Trinità” will be celebrated on the inaugural day with the Pedersoli family.
Two photographic exhibitions: at the Ancient Baths of the City of Ischia with the images of Pinocchio by Garrone, at the Ex Prison of Punta Molino with “My Divas” by Roberto Rocco.
