The 18th edition of the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival marks the resumption of the showbiz in Italy this year. The 2020 edition has in fact a strong focus on safety and major issues with the aim of transmitting to the world the image of a peaceful Italian summer, of a “safe Campania Region”, in the name of optimism and the relaunch for all sectors of art and tourism. International festival of the cinema and audiovisual industry and above all of young talents, this year the Global festival will involve the big screen and music on the Green Island and in the entire Gulf of Naples.
The event, founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, in association with the Ischia International Art Academy chaired by Riccardo Monti, is promoted with the MIBACT-Dg Cinema and the Campania Region with the patronage of the Italian Red Cross, and will be inaugurated by the Vice Minister della Salute Pierpaolo Sileri. The 18th edition is chaired by Carolina Rosi, actress and producer, honorary president and curator of the music section is Tony Renis. Ischia Global Film & Music Festival 2020 is dedicated to Ennio Morricone, the Oscar Master recently passed away.
Over 100 personalities who will participate in the first big event of the summer, which for its themes is confirmed at the center of the interest of the global media. Actors, musicians, ‘fashion icons’, together with a team of producers, will discuss the new challenges facing the world of audiovisual and entertainment in general.
The great world cinema in Ischia therefore returns with previews rigorously in theaters and significant presences that will allow you to not interrupt the dialogue with the world of the film industry of a much loved event in the US and beyond: Trudie Styler, already
honorary president of the festival, will receive the “Ischia Global Ambassador” award with Sting; Malcolm Venville will receive the Ischia Social Award for the feature film “And We Go Green”, representing the Leonardo Di Caprio Foundation for its commitment to environmental issues. The Ischia Art Award goes to cinematographer Ben Davis, actress Camille Griffin and their son, the extraordinary young actor Roman Griffin Davis (JoJo Rabbit). The European art Award was awarded to the great German actor Moritz Bleibtreu.
For Italian cinema, the twins D’Innocenzo and the producers of the year of Pepito production will be awarded for the film of the year “Favolacce”. In memory of Carlo Vanzina, Paolo Ruffini (Ischia Carlo Vanzina Prince of Comedy Award) will be awarded. The Legend Award is attributed to Sandra Milo who will be the protagonist of a tribute to Federico Fellini on the centenary of his birth together with Andrea Griminelli and Leopoldo Mastelloni.
There were numerous presentations for significant awards during the week: Giorgio Pasotti, Federico Ielapi, Carlo Buccirosso, Elisa Amoruso, Alberto Testone, Mirko Found, Riccardo Mandolini and Antonio Geraci (Ischia Art Award), Pappi Corsicato (Ischia Fiction Award), Francesco Di Leva, Madalina Ghenea, Piero Chiambretti, Massimo Boldi, Pierfrancesco Pingitore (King of comedy), Nicolas Vaporidis, Giulia Salemi, Kaspar Capparoni, Jane Alexander, Elisa Amoruso, Nando Mormone, Matranga and Munafò, Mariano Bruno, Maurizio Mattioli (Art Award at career), Peppe Iodice (Ischia Brekout Award), Simone Di Pasquale, Emanuela Ambrosino and Tonia Cartolano (Ischia People Award), Andrea Iervolino’s Tatatu will award a prize to the best short film. Clemente Russo was awarded the Ischia Social Award.
Godmother of the festival is the Neapolitan model Fiorenza D’Antonio.
Also in this edition music is more than ever the protagonist with the delivery to Zucchero of the recognition “The keys of Ischia” (together with the producer Marina Cicogna) and the homage to Ennio Morricone, a red thread that will tie together various moments of the festival and will propose during the awards the precious performances of Andrea Griminelli and Sumi Jo.
At the start with Jacopo Mastrangelo (the young musician who moved with his concerts from the roofs of Piazza Navona during the lockdown, starting right from Morricone’s notes), and with Andrea Sannino for his “Abbracciame” which became a hymn of love and courage. Among the protagonists of the evenings also Lo Stato Sociale, Franco Ricciardi, Ivan Granatino, Clementino, Tony Esposito, Paolo Vallesi, Paolo Belli Band, Agostino Penna.
Thanks to Global, the historic Excelsior of Ischia Porto and Delle Vittorie of Forio reopen for the occasion with over 70 titles including previews, special screenings and feature films in review with the best works of the world season.

Among the absolute previews: “Rise” by Maritte Lee Go, “The Cinema does not stop” by Marco Serafini, “In the women’s bathroom” by Marco Castaldi, “Nightmare Symphony” by Domiziano Cristopharo. In European Preview “Love is not Love” by Stephen Keep Mills and “Songs of Solomon” by Arman Nshanian. Among the Italian premieres “No Fathers in Kahsmir” by Ashvin Kumar (Oscar nominated), “And We Go Green” by Fisher Stevens and
Malcolm Venville – produced by Leonardo Di Caprio; Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island”, Luc Besson’s “Anna”, Guy Richtie’s “The Gentlemen”. The billboard of special screenings with “Dogthooth” (2009) by Yorgos Lanthimos, a closing film, unpublished in Italy, which will be released in theaters in August, is rich; “Can you keep a secret?” by Elise Duran and important titles that could only be seen on platforms such as Michel Hazanavicious’s “The Lost Prince”, Christoph Waltz’s “Georgetown”, Nisha Ganatra’s “The High Note”, Leigh Whannell’s “The Invisible Man”, “Emma” by Autumn de Wilde, “The Hunt” by Craig Zobel. Particularly nourished the billboard “W il Cinema Italiano” with the possibility of seeing on the big screen the film of the year “Favolacce” by D’Innocenzo and “Abbi fede” by Giorgio Pasotti, as well as other titles released on the platform during the lockdown, like “Come back” and “7 hours to make you fall in love”. In the “Window on the World” section the opportunity to see and review the great films of the season protagonists of the international Awards from “1917” to “The Officer and the Spy”, from “Little Women” to “Joker”, but also ” Star Wars “and” Jojo Rabbit “. The offer is completed by the Kids and Documentary sections.
“Cinema, Theater, Music, Dance and …: starting afresh in safety” is the first of the forums of the 2020 edition strongly characterized by the theme of health security and the resumption of cultural industry activities. On July 13, introduced by President Carolina Rosi, the following spoke: Hon. Luigi Gallo, President of the Chamber Culture Commission, Hon. The second day of the festival will see an all-female parterre chaired by Rosi, with Elisa Amoruso, Madalina Ghenea, Chiara Conti, Nathaly Caldonazzo, Fiorenza D’Antonio, Elisa De Panicis, Giulia Salemi, Gessica Taghetti, Mariana Falace and Cristiana Pedersoli. On July 15 with the Oscar winner Alessandro Bertolazzi, the word to young people with Federico Ielapi, Roman Griffin Davis, Mirko Found Riccardo Madolini, Lodo Guenzi, Jambo Praticò and Clementino. On July 16, Michael Radford (UK), Moriths Bleibtreu (Ger), Francesco Di Leva will discuss the same topics. On July 17th at the table with Marina Cicogna, Camille Griffin, Ben Davis, Malcolm Venville (UK) and Sandra Milo. Together with Zucchero, Andrea Griminelli, Paolo Vallesi, Paolo Belli, Trudie Styler. Saturday 18 July will be the turn of the industry for a symposium In collaboration with Anica, APA and the Campania Region Film Commission. And with BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas. With the welcome of Titta Fiore, President of the Campania Region Film Commission, Luigi Abete, Alberto Bonisoli, Alessandro Salem (Mediaset), Andrea Iervolino (AIE), Katie Goodson Thomas (UK), Marc Bikindou (Fra), Pier Francesco Pingitore.
