Starting with Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 9.30 pm, Cinema Ateneu invites moviegoers to filme outdoors, on the roof terrace of the National Athenaeum in Iasi, an ideal space for audio-visual projections, with a capacity of 50 seats.
Movie nights start with the movie “Follow”, a rare police film made in our country, the feature film debut of director and actor Dorian Boguţă. The cast includes, among others, Teodor Corban, Dragoş Bucur, Mădălina Ghenea, Liviu Pintileasa.
It follows, “Cardinal”, directed by Nicolae Mărgineanu, is in the top of Romanian films after the revenues obtained in our country during the premiere weekend. The documentary manages to tell about the life and sufferings of a priest who distinguished himself by moral verticality, always defending his country, faith and values. The film, seen as a history lesson, distributes veteran actors Remus Mărgineanu (Bishop Valeriu Frenţiu), Mircea Andreescu (Bishop Alexandru Rusu), Radu Botar (Bishop Iuliu Hossu) and will be broadcast on July 24, at 9.30 pm.
Then, on 25 July 2020, at 9.30 pm, it will run, for the first time, “The Terrible Ivan”, a cinematic story about a woman who can’t find her place on either side of the Danube. The feature film, winner of the title of best film at the 48th edition of the Belgrade International Film Festival – FEST, is an unconventional story about people and places, about belonging and longing, told with humor and tenderness.
On Sunday, the film returns to the Cinema Ateneu program “Dolor y gloria / Pain and glory”, where we will see the famous Spanish actress Penélope Cruz, along with Antonio Banderas, awarded the prize for male performance at Cannes 2019. The production received the Gopo Award for Best European Film.
